Eco Factor: Concept product produces water from moist air in a greenhouse.
loop 1
Greenhouses are necessary, especially if you consider the
decline in the amount of land that is available for irrigation and the
growth in population. However, most greenhouses require an enormous
amount of fresh water, which too is hard to come by. Naci Cenk Aytekin, a
Turkish industrial product designer, has come up with a solution that
could make greenhouses much greener.
loop 2
Loop,
as the product has been entitled, is a pot-shaped device that is made
from aluminum. The aluminum leaves of the pot remain cool even in warm
and moist conditions. This unique property of the material allows the
pot to act as a condenser, and capture water molecules from moist air.
loop 3
The
tiny droplets of water are collected in the pot, which later finds
their way back to the greenhouse through engraved canals on the aluminum
leaves. This simple yet ingenious solution can reduce the amount of
water utilized in a greenhouse and can make greenhouses an even better
solution to end the food crisis.
